After breakfast and check-out from the hotel, at 9:00 AM, you will start your guided city tour, which will include the Kigali Genocide Memorial, the Rwanda Art Museum, and the Niyo Art Gallery. The Kigali Genocide Memorial is a powerful and poignant site dedicated to honoring the memory of the victims of the 1994 Rwandan Genocide. Situated in the capital city of Kigali, it serves as both a burial site and a center for education about the genocide, which resulted in the deaths of an estimated 800,000 people in just 100 days. You'll enjoy lunch at Heaven Restaurant. This afternoon, you will have a scenic drive to Volcanoes National Park, arriving at your lodge in the evening. Check-in assistance will be provided, followed by dinner and an overnight stay.
6:00 am: You'll have an early breakfast at the lodge, then proceed to the park headquarters in time for your gorilla trek briefing at 7:00 am. You will be transferred to the trailhead. You will join others and start your guided walk at 8:00 am. Volcanoes National Park is the Rwandan section of the great volcanic massif called the Virunga Mountains that straddles the borders of Rwanda, Uganda, and the DRC. The massif covers a huge area of over 8,000km², encompassing six active and three extinct volcanoes. There is no other wildlife experience quite like an encounter with mountain gorillas. That precious hour spent in their company watching the group playing, teasing each other, eating, just like we do. After this exciting experience, you will transfer to your lodge for lunch and to clean your boots. Following lunch, you will check out of the lodge and drive back to Kigali International Airport, and bid farewell to your driver-guide. You'll proceed to check in for your outbound flight
